Camp Philosophy:
Over the last 39 years or more of
our lives in Lawrence, Michigan, we have striven to create an
environment where children of all ages, backgrounds and races
could come grow with us in a healthy, safe setting. We have tried
to build that world with you, the parent, in mind. Our concerns
echo yours--that your child is safe and happy during their stay
away from home.
Because of our small size(60 camper capacity) and our
general camp philosophy, we are lucky to attract a varied group
of campers from different states and different countries who are
drawn to Cedar Lodge for a variety of different reasons. They
return to Cedar Lodge for two universal reasons; they learn new
things and they have fun!
We believe in creating a low-pressured, non-competitive
atmosphere where children choose how to spend their day, one day
at a time. The Cedar Lodge Staff works hard with the campers of
each week to offer a varied, unique program with those campers in
mind. Our goal is to not only offer the kinds of programs that
our campers want, but to expose them to experiences that they may
never have had a chance to have before. Though riding is
a scheduled class, the other daily activities change every
day giving a exciting blend to each week. Our motto is "We're
flexible", and we keep that motto in mind all summer long.
Cedar Lodge is small by choice to enable us to better know
every camper. Our hope is that by the end of their stay, they
feel that they are part of our extended Cedar Lodge camp family.
With our unique size we feel better able to evaluate each
camper's special needs.
 Our staff
stresses the importance of making your own decisions, and with
their guidance, carrying through with these decisions to a
conclusion. We believe that we are not only here to teach young
people, but also to learn from them.
Cedar Lodge's varied group of campers and staff give us, "The
Directors", a unique feeling toward those we serve. We want all
of our campers and staff to feel that Cedar Lodge is their "home
away from home". This has proved itself over and ever through the
years, and our campers and staff are always coming home
again.
