LessonsCedar Lodge Stables presently has 3 full time instructors teaching year around. Each instructor has her level of expertise, and we work hard at matching up the ideal instructor with each student. Please visit our Stable Staff page to get to know our instructors. CLS has a large weekly
following of local riders at all levels. Some of these riders are
rank beginners that want to try riding for the first time, some
are riders that are just getting ready to start to jump, some are
thinking of showing, and some are seasoned show riders that have
been with the stable for years. CLS also has a following of
clients that live in near by Chicago, Detroit or other near by
cities and come to Cedar Lodge on weekends to ride. Often, these
clients (who are often campers during summer camp) find that they
can get a better riding experience by coming to CLS on weekends
year around, then trying to get to stables in their area. The
difference in stable costs often make up for the transportation
costs! These riders may or may not participate in Riding Weekends, and are
riders of all ages and expertise. Some of these riders may also
choose to show
with Cedar Lodge Stables in the off season. Cedar Lodge works
with these clients to meet the needs of their schedules when
possible and are willing to pick up at trains or buses when
needed. Many of these clients will stay for a night or two
in the Cedar Lodge Farm
House before they travel home again.CLS prides itself in it's personalized care of both horse and rider and works hard with each individual to tailor make a program that suits their needs. Our primary goals are that each rider is given a chance to improve, has a great and positive time, and makes steps toward accomplishing their own individual goals. Lesson times are flexible and run year around with the help of a comfortable indoor riding arena. Cedar Lodge Stables is primarily a Hunter/Jumper Show stables and our expertise is English riding and jumping, however we are also able to teach Western riders at the beginning and intermediate level (through canter proficiency). Prices: Lesson prices are based on a one hour riding lesson.
Students are expected to groom and tack their own horses, and
students that do not know how, are taught as part of their
initial lessons. All beginner lessons start with basic horse
