Campers ShowingFor the camper that wants to someday show, but has never been to a horse show, we offer a Camp Horse Show during the summer on grounds. Ths show is most often part of our "Parent's Day", held some time during the middle of the summer. The campers "compete" against members of their own riding class and classes of their like ability. No show clothes are required and we request that they only be neat and clean. The competition part of the show is VERY low key. Our aim is not to create "A" level showers at this stage, but rather to give the campers a taste of the structure of a horse show with out giving them the pressure. There is a judge, a announcer and ribbons for all. For those that are presently showing and need more experience, or the camper that is showing regularly at home, we offer our Show Team which travels to shows most weekends during the summer. The shows that the Show Team travels to, has different levels of showing in different rings, so anything from a camper with good control at a canter and able to do a course of cross rails, to a camper that is Jumping competitively at the 3'6" level will find a niche at these shows. For those that want
to expand their showing season, and perhaps have a chance to show
more extensively with out the cost of a horse, Cedar Lodge Stables
hosts a horse show on their grounds that is open to outside horses.
This horse show is part of the LMHJA horse show circuit and usually
held over Labor Day weekend. Campers that have shown with the
show team before or ridden at the summer camp have the option of
joining the Cedar Lodge Stable team at these shows. All riders must
meet the criteria of Chris Cochrane, show team director. Horses are
available for lease if need be.Interested members of Cedar Lodge Summer Camp or Show Team that would like to Show more extensively can join Cedar Lodge Stables through the Spring, Summer and fall at a variety of different horse show events. Approved riders will be given the option of showing their own horse or leasing one of the stables horses when available. |
