For those campers who desire a more intensive riding experience than offered by Cedar Lodge's Full Riding , or Horses 'R Us programs, Cedar Lodge offers a one week intensive riding camp during select weeks of every summer. Horse Lovers program runs similar to the show team, without the show. Campers will have 2 lessons a day, with the option of a third ride if they choose.

Horse Lovers will participate in ground lectures and work towards the completion of their Cedar Lodge riding levels of certification. They will be assigned to one or two horses that they will ride exclusively during their week. Space is limited for this program so advanced sign up is mandatory.

Requirements for Horse Lovers:

As Horse Lovers is geared more towards a certain level of rider, the Cedar Lodge riding staff has come up with a list of prerequisites for potential participants.

These weeks are open to anyone who can walk, trot and canter in a group of ten riders. You must know your diagonals and leads, make circles at all three gaits and be able to do simple lead changes. Campers interested in this program must be at camp at least one week prior to participating in any Horse Lover’s weeks.

2 week campers only

Campers that are not known to the Cedar Lodge staff must be willing to come up per-camp for a riding evaluation test. The test, which will be a riding lesson with the program’s director, Chris Cochrane will cost 30.00.
No spots in the program will be guaranteed until approved by the CL staff (approval ride if appropriate).
Spots in program will go to returnee campers first, new campers second.

Horse Lovers Dates 2012:Week 1 (June 17-24) and Week 8 (August 5-12)
