2008 Summer Staff Bios.

It's time! I've been busy hiring for the summer of 2008 and though I am far from done, I've got something to show for my efforts. Some new, some old, some borrowed, some.......blue?,,,,,,

Kendra!!!!!

Riding Instructor, Vaulting Instructor, Lands Sports, Singing, Dancing, Who Knows?

HEY!! My name is Kendra Edwards, and I’m on staff again! Get excited for this summer-I know I already am! Anyways, for those of you who don’t know me, I’m a freshman at Albion College. I’ve grown up at Cedar Lodge my entire life and can’t imagine a summer without it. I love riding and vaulting, so this summer I’ll be working in the barn as a riding instructor. I will also be the head of the vaulting program this year, and I can’t wait for that. At camp I can also be found on the lawn doing games, or other various activities, but no doubt having fun and keeping busy. So come to camp ready to have an amazingly sweet summer, because I’ve heard through the grapevine that we have an AWESOME group of staff so far. I’m absolutely stoked. I cannot wait to see everyone’s smiling and happy faces again!!

Allison

Riding Instructor, Camping, Folk Dance and Lore, Land Sports, Singing, Hiking, Nature, Bugs, Camp Band, Canoing, Waterfront, Funny Stuff

With some many great old faces to see and so many wonderful new faces to meet, how could I possibly resist coming back to camp for yet another summer.  I would just miss the fun way too much. Those who know me know I love camp. I love the culture of camp, the philosophy of camp and all the great things camp gives to campers like you. In my 25 years, I have only ever missed two summers. For me, camp is a way of life. I am eager to see you all this summer and to do what I love. Which is share with you this wonderful place called Cedar Lodge, and to help you learn, grow, and have fun.

If you want to know where you can find me this summer, you will have to do some searching around. I will spend a lot of my time at the waterfront lifeguarding for free swim, boating, and other activities at the lake. You will also find my hiking in the woods, keeping Sr. unit in line, making friendship bracelets in the A&C, playing SPUD on the lawn, and maybe even in the barn on occasion. And If you ask nicely, I will even teach you to hang a spoon off of your nose (and other important life skills that you only learn at camp)

What about my none-camp life you may wonder. Well, I graduated from Kalamazoo College in 04' with a BA in psychology.  I spent 8 months living, working, and traveling in Africa. Now I am working and hopefully starting graduate school in the fall to get my Master's.  In my free time, I read, do yoga and swim laps to keep my lifeguarding muscles in tip top shape for camp.

Amy does a sportAmy

Drama, arts and crafts, music

Hey everyone! I'm Amy; I'm 21 from Manchester in England. I've just finished studying drama at uni and I'm so excited to be joining Camp Cedar. I hope you are all looking forward to having lots of fun this summer, and making many new friends. Amy acts! This year I'll be running the drama side of camp, planning some fab workshops for us all, and we will be producing some great plays. I love drama and performing, and can't wait to share my enthusiasm with you all. As well as acting, I have a great passion for music, playing the flute and learning to play the piano and sing. I also love arts and crafts; I am always drawing, painting or creating funky things. I love to explore as well, and experience as many new things as possible; this is my first time to America, and working at a summer camp, so let's make it the best summer yet! Can't wait to meet you all!

Nick doing Sunday programsNick
Music, Rock Band, Creative writing.....

Hi! My name is Nick, and I'm looking forward to another beautiful summer out at Camp Cedar Lodge. My family has lived in Michigan my whole life, but I'm studying creative writing and youth ministry at Ohio Northern University during the school year. I'll be a senior in the fall of 2008.

From science camp as an elementary school kid to YMCA camp right before I went to high school, I've gained so much from camp over the years. I found confidence in myself through venturing away from home and trying new activities, I formed bonds and friendships that offered strength and encouragement, and formed memories that will always inspire me and never fade. Now, in turn, I would like to help other youth discover these same benefits.

I will be doing the music program at Cedar Lodge for the 2008 summer. I'm looking forward to offering all kids a chance to explore music and try out something new, regardless of age, ability, or past experience. Whether you've never picked up an instrument or have played for years, there will be a place for you to comfortably and freely have fun. I teach drums, bass, guitar, electric piano, percussion, and singing. I believe that music is a powerful and beautiful force. Playing music together mixes individual creativity with group teamwork; sharing in a favorite song with friends builds understanding and friendship.

Nick jamming

When I'm not teaching music, I will be doing what many starving artists do: working in cooking and cleaning!

I always feel incredibly blessed and fortunate to be a part of Cedar Lodge; it is a place of both serenity and excitement, of comfort and adventure. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and helping to create a great camp experience. It's going to be a fun summer!

AudreyAudrey
Riding Instructor

Hey everybody,

My name is Audrey and I will be 21 when I come to camp. I live in Rouen, in the north west of France. Yes, yes, I'm French.
This will be my first ever time in the States and I'm so exciting! I'm delighted with coming to Cedar lodge this summer.

In France, I'm a riding instructor and when I have time, I'm a student... No, I joke... ;-). Seriously, I'm studying economics and management at the University of Rouen.

Audrey has fun For 4 years, I have been a counselor every summer and school holiday. I'm really passionately fond of camp moons, camp meetings and camp life.
I love sleeping under a tent or in the open, eating and singing around a fire and organizing big treasure hunts in the forest. I love outdoor life and adventure (and I love to ride of course!!). It's freedom.

Audrey teaches I don't know why, but I'm always in funny situations where I often look ridiculous and everyone I am with and I have a good laugh. (maybe I am not lucky...?!)
So with me, It's always more fun, more adventure but particularly more sensation when you are riding your horse. Horse riding is the most beautiful sport and when I teach it, the most important thing when you’re riding is that the rider is confident with their horse so they can feel them and through horse discover themselves...So I do a lot of games and fun type rides so you will have an unforgettable holiday.

I'm sure we will have lots of great and fun time together this summer. I can't wait to see everyone there!

Bye!!

Audrey

Where needed

Hilary rides

Hey guys! My name is Hilary, or Hi Larry as some of you may know me. I will be junior staff for Weeks 7 and 8, and am completely excited to hang out with all of you in the barn and wherever else I may be needed. This fall I helped Chris and Amy at some of the riding weekends and I had such a great time that I knew I wanted more time on staff. This will be my fifth summer at Cedar Lodge, and I plan on making it the best ever. However, not only do I spend the summer at Cedar Lodge, I spend the fall winter, and spring here too sinceHilary bikes I ride year-round at the barn. Although riding is my favorite thing to do, I enjoy lots of other areas as well; these include lacrosse, running, archery, hiking, camping, nature and arts and crafts. Look for me this summer—I can't wait to see everyone there! :D
