JanuaryJan.1st: Sadly we said bye to all our happy winter campers. We had a great time this year. Sadly, no snow, but somehow we managed to keep busy with a great staff (Allison, Kendra, Kali and Shannon) and great campers. The biggest Winter Camp ever! Bunches of riding, games, arts and crafts, talking, laughing, vaulting and singing. Soooooo sad they all had to go home.Jan. 15th: Annual LMHJA Board and General membership meeting held at Cedar Lodge. You wouldn't think this would effect you, but some of you it does. We were able to set dates for our Labor Day Horse show, set the other show dates for the summer, and brain storm another exciting new idea for this spring involving two schooling shows. More in the next electronic newsletter. Jan.
27th: Cedar Lodge took 4 vaulters up to the vaulting
clinic in Grand Rapids . Our vaulters included, Kendra E,
Catherine G. , Ashley B, and Kali E... The girls were in for
quite a day.It started very early with a wake up at 5:30. Starting with an hour and a half of gymnastics, Two hours with Nancy Smith (present president of the American Vaulting Association and previous bronze medal World Championship coach), an hour worth of acrobatics and an additional hour and a half of dance. ![]() Everyone came away learning tons and it
has certainly given us a direction to go with our team. I am sure
everyone had their personal high lights, but mine was watching
Nancy work with Catherine's group. She took a group of novice
vaulters and through a series of exercises taught them not only
how to develope a free style routine, but how to develop with a
group. It was inspiring.![]() A public at the up coming Michigan Horse Expo. Kali and Kendra work with Nancy in the advanced group |
