March
1 (or there abouts):
Sadly,
Dagwood our long term friend had to be put to sleep last fall. He had
been with Cedar Lodge since he was born, some 16 years ago. We knew a
cat or two would wander in and need a home eventually and sure enough,
in February the call came from sister-in-law, Pat about a cat that had
been dumped at their house. We agreed to give the gray and white female
a home in our barn. The problem was, no one saw her arrive, and though
Pat was adamant that they dropped the new kitty in the barn, for a
week, none of us saw her. During that time, we had a terrible snow
storm with high winds, low temperatures and a foot of snow. We were all
sure that new kitty had just decided that barn life was not for her!
Not so. after a bit more than a week, barn personnel started to report
"sightings" of a gray and white streak of light passing here and there
within the barn. In another week or so, our new barn kitty decided that
barn life wasn't so bad, the the horses were big.....but dumb. New
kitty's name is Ellie, and she promptly became friendly and pregnant
all in the same week. Stay tuned for the results in May! March 3: Chris

March 9-11: Vaulting
Weekend (Kendra) We
have had so much interest in vaulting this last year that it was a
unanimous decision to try a couple of competitions this year. Most that
showed interest got a good start on their routines at winter camp, but
there was still loads to do. Kendra and Kali were nice enough to take
their weekends home from college to put together three vaulting weekend
dates that vaulters could attend to work on what they wold be competing
on. Two of those weekends were in March, one in April. Vaulters that
wanted to compete had to attend two of the three. Both weekends in
March were well attended and Kali and Kendra kept them all very busy.
The girls still found time for an afternoon ride, and Sunday, mid
morning they performed for parents, staff and interested on-lookers.
Sunday,
March 25th Jane Egger of Agape Vaulting club agreed to come down and
work with the girls for a couple of hours. All agreed they learned
allot and that the extra set of eyes was very helpful.

Beginning
March till end:Amy
and Craig work on web site. Craig and I have been talking about it for
a couple of years. Regardless of the wonderful content, the Cedar Lodge
web site is difficult to navigate. Chalk it up to my own inexperience,
my own personality, and years of adding bright ideas on to the original
format, and it equals a web site, that even seasoned users will now and
again stumble upon a page they didn't know existed. This March was it.
Craig had a lull in his studies, and well, I didn't really want to go
start riding anyway. It was time to give the Cedar Lodge web site a
full frontal attack. Hundreds of hours later, Craig was researched,
downloaded and experimented enough to give me a list of my projects a
mile (or hundreds of hours, which ever you prefer) long. I took a look
at the list, I took a look at when I should start riding, and I have to
admit, I had a minor panic attack. Then I got comfortable in my office
chair and started in. Hours and hours later, with loads of on going
help from Craig, at the end of March, I'm still not done, but
don't fret! This story has a happy ending in April, as you
can
see. |
