November Updates

Riding Riding Riding.........

Making progress with Dr. Seuss........

Chris and Cathy have been swamped with new riding lessons this fall, which is great! It's super to share our talented Cedar Lodge horses with a whole new set of riders. Many of them have already gotten in the Cedar Lodge Spirit. They even have their favorite horses! One of Chris's lessons, Elizabeth and mother Renee created an awesome tribute to the Cedar Lodge barn, Horses and riding staff. Look inside.....can you see Reggie?

Vaulting Weekend:

New this year at Cedar Lodge, this fall hosted the first all vaulting weekend. A brainstorm of the campers and our vaulting staff this summer, we were all favorable of doing what we could to support the idea.
We decided to limit our first weekend to the CL vaulters that were more advanced to really give them a chance to focus on themselves. Of the 23 campers invited, many showed interest and 10 came to work with us in November. ........and BOY DID THEY WORK!!!!! All vaulting, all the time. First on the barrel, then the horse, then the barrel, then the horse....or should I say horses?
Dr. Seuss, new to Cedar Lodge got a chance to fly his own colors and strut his stuff. The addition of another horse gave the participating vaulters that much more time on the horse. Besides vaulting off and on the barrel, time was spent both days working on fitness in both aerobics and strength training and Allison was nice enough to help us out with a yoga class geared just for the muscles used in riding and vaulting. But it wasn't ALL about vaulting. There was a whole lot of talking and joking going on in-between classes, and Sally was nice enough to come over Saturday night for some Broadway tunes. Everyone learned tons, went home sore and were raring to go again next time offered. Most are very interested in Competing. Wow. Kali and Kendra will both be at Cedar Lodge for Winter Camp and have decided to offer an extensive vaulting program there as well.
