Up Dates For September 2006 September 1-3: Labor
Day Horse Show At Cedar Lodge Every year Cedar
Lodge hosts one or two association shows for LMHJA, the local Hunter
Jumper Association that our riders compete on. These shows sport three
rings. The first is a Jumper ring with classes from 2'6"-3'9", the
second called the Regular Ring is for Hunter and Equitation riders with
classes from 2'6" to 3'6" and the Basic ring is for Hunter and
Equitation riders with classes from cross rails to 2'6".![]() With
this variety of classes, Cedar Lodge had 14 riders participating in the
show, and riders in all three rings. Of the 14 riders, 4 of our riders
were summer camp riding instructors and staff, one was a camp junior
counselor and 6 were campers at the summer camp. 9 of the Cedar Lodge
horses shown were owned by Cedar Lodge Stables and also used in the
summer camp program. Wow. Definitely great odds!Everyone did super and awards were won by all. September 15th-17:
LMHJA association Medal FinalsTaylor, Ashley, Emma, Whitney. Chris and I loaded up the trailer bright and early Saturday and Sunday morning and drove the hour drive over the Rolling Hills Farm to participate in the medal finals on a fine September morning. Taylor
and Emma were both contesting their medal class and the rest of us were
just plain showing! Everyone did exceptionally well, and were
pleased with their results. Taylor and Ashley did very well in their
divisions, Taylor learned bunches in her medal class and Emma ended up
winning hers! Great weekend all around, girls!![]() September 18th: The
Babies begin!!!!! Some of you that know them, may not think of them as
babies, but to me, until they have gone through that basics of Cedar
Lodge, sergeant Amy's boot camp (should I say, horse shoe camp?), they
are all babies to me. Given my desire to never ride more than 4 horses
a day (a desire often pushed past it's comfort zone), I chose three
Cedar Lodge horses as nominees. Two of them, you all are probably very
familiar with: Gomer and Chip from this summer. The other you may not
know, as she has been "up the road" at good neighbor Karen's for
several years, waiting to grow up. It is none other than Rylie, Chris
and my youngest, that we have been growing now for 4 years. Click onto
the October Update link for more information on the new recruits and
just what they are learning.September 24th: LMHJA Board Meeting-This may not be very interesting to many of you, but it is the date that all of us here must wait for to plan for many of our next summer dates. It is this LMHJA meeting that the dates for the next year's association horse shows are declared. After we have those dates, we at Cedar Lodge go about planning our other dates for next season. Here are the list of Horse shows for next season: June 16/17-Lou Don June 30/July 1-Huntington July 7/8-Twin Cities August 4/5-Alpine September 1/2-Cedar Lodge (Medal Finals) Plans on showing for this summer? Cedar Lodge will definitely be going to all LMHJA shows, so the above list will give you at least some of our plans. It does NOT mean that we won't be participating in shows on other dates, but these are now confirmed. Here are several other dates that you may want to know: July 28th: Parent's Day (end of the 5th week) July 15th-20: Van Buren Youth Fair (4th week) If you plan on attending during either of these weeks, it's wise to sign up EARLY! These dates are very popular. |
